Free bus pass age rise may be sped up amid budget cuts

The age at which people in England get a free bus pass could go up from 60 to 65 sooner than previously planned, under new plans.

hubby and i have had ours for a few years but never needed to use it, it's different down the line i know when i was down in Irvine a few yrs ago all we did was jump from one bus to the other. no doubt it will hit a lot of peoples pockets hard

I have to worl until Im 65 I missed the retire at 60, and now I have to wait for my bus pass.by the time I get it they way things are going the eligable age will have risen to 90.

Taking everything to an age where we probably wont be around to qualify

I never ever gave the bus pass a second thought till I got one!!! it's marvellous and has saved me hundreds of pounds already, I use it all the time and have been to Scarborough a few times with it all free! mind you it does take almost three hours to get there My husband has his but has never used it, (he's still working)
I think it's a disgrace to raise the age to qualify for free travel, people who have retired and no longer work wouldn't get out half as much without the pass if they don't drive and even then driving costs money.
