Ok so the NMW is £6.08.
On a 36 hour week, this means £11,381 per year. Now the government are making the first £10k you earn, with no tax, so say you take home £10000 per year.
could you live on that?

I could live on £10,000 a year, if I don't have to pay taxes or anything.

The minimum wage is a bliddy joke...........Take a young fella with a wife and young family. They will struggle to manage on minimum wage. It needs to be raised to a reasonable level. Not every young mother has the option to go out to work, some of them have to stay home for the kids and indeed some of them want to stay home for the kids.
