TEN people have been arrested following Home Office Immigration Enforcement operations which raided three businesses in Wick Town Centre.

Officers visited a number of licensed premises, working with officers from Police Scotland on Thursday evening.

At Spice Tandoori at The Shore, six Bangladeshi men aged between 28 and 41 were arrested after being found to be working illegally.

Two Bangladeshi men aged 30 and 58 were also arrested for working illegally at Curry King on Bridge Street.

And a 29-year-old Chinese woman and a 34-year-old Chinese man were arrested after it was discovered they were working illegally at Dragon House on High Street.

All ten offenders have been detained pending their removal from the country.

The businesses will be served with civil penalty notices for employing the illegal workers.

If the employers are unable to provide evidence that legally required pre- employment checks were carried out on them before giving the workers a job, a fine of up to £10,000 per illegal employee will be imposed.

Look at where they were hired. It's no wonder. A "white" restaurant probably wouldn't have hired them.

True. We have lots of illegals here too that work and aren't a drain on the system, but then you always have those that are. But they don't have to be illegal either to sponge off the system. I know plenty of those too.

Earlier this week a plane from Egypt landed at Prestwick.   (it was heading for the US)
Someone found a note in the toilet saying the plane was being blown up.Made an unscheduled  stop at Prestwick Scotland..
After the plane was searched 5 passengers refused to board back on . claiming refuge.
