| Now this is one GOOD idea
REVENGE ON THE TELEMARKETER
Three Little Words That Work!!
(1) The three little words: 'Hold On, Please...' Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear BT's 'beep-beep-beep' tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset....you have efficiently completed your task. These three little words could help eliminate telephone soliciting.
(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end? This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and record’s the time of day when a person answers the phone.
This technique is then used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' salesperson to call back and get someone at home. What you can do after answering: If you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialled the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!
(3) When you get those 'pre-approved' letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.
Most of these come with postage-prepaid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular postage 'IF' and when they are returned. It costs them nothing if you throw them away! In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-prepaid return envelopes.
Send an advert for your local chimney sweeper to American Express... they might need one! Send a pizza coupon to HSBC... in case their canteen packs up. You get the idea. If you didn't get anything else that day, then just send them back their blank application form.... after all, it is their form!
If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn't on anything you return.
You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them, and it is their envelope after all… you are just returning it!!!!
The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the post, but folks....we need to OVERWHELM them, in order to stop them.
Let's let them know what it's like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they're paying for it...Twice!
Let's help keep Royal Mail busy. Since the Royal Mail is saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, let's help them so they will not need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea!
If enough people follow these tips, it will work ---- maybe you'll get very little junk mail anymore.
THIS JUST MIGHT BE ONE E-MAIL THAT YOU WILL WANT TO FORWARD TO YOUR FRIENDS!!!!!!! | |

| All of these ideas are good and i have 1 other to add myself. It does cost a little, but it works 100% Buy the little machine called 'Tru Call' it takes all your phonecalls for you and as you have pre programmed it with the phonenumbers of family and friends, it will let their call through. Obviously if it gets a call from a number NOT on the list, the caller is asked to hold and Tru Call asks you if you wish to receive the call, if you do, Tru call puts it through to you and if it's a call you don't want, you press the hash key and they never get through again. Most of these kinds of phonecallers won't give a phone number and if they don't, Tru Call tells them never to phone this number again. We have had Tru Call since September last year and only the first week did we have to take calls and press the hash key, we have never had to press it since. It's absolutely magic, you know when the phone rings it IS someone you want to talk too. The price, i think about £75 00, WORTH EVERY PENNY guys. |

| that sounds good killie, will have a look around for that and see about getting one. I actually told my daughter about the three little words one this morning. She's been getting 3 or 4 calls a day, often missed calls because when she's at work she turns her mobile off, from some insurance company. They more or less bullied her into taking out life insurance a while back and when it came through I told her to cancel it as she couldnt afford it at the time anyway. Now they're phoning her all the time to try and get her to sign up for it again. She's very timid about dealing with people like this but I've told her the three words and also that if they still keep calling her to threaten them with going to the police for harrassment. They'd soon know if they phoned while I was with her as I'd put them in their place fast enough | |

| I would'nt be without it now Kay, it's so nice when the phone rings now, it's a pleasure to answer it knowing it will be someone you want to talk to. We still get the very very occasional call, where Tru call puts it through because the person phoning has given their number when asked, all you do is, accept the call which Tru call ask if you want to, and if it's someone trying to sell you something or whatever it may be, if you don't want to talk, just press the hash key and hang up. You never hear from them again, i assume they probably try but Tru call now has the number on it's don't pass list, and tells the caller to please do not phone this number again. Mind you Kay, on saying that, the last call like that was in early December last year, so it speaks for itself. :D |
