| If you love your job and are still contributing to the workplace fair enough but no-one should be made to continue working until they are 70, say. | |

| Well I would have preferred to have done something active with my life but not work. My father-in-law died only a couple of years after he retired and never got to enjoy any retirement. All depends on yer outlook, I suppose. | |

| I don't think the retirement age should go up however I feel if you want to continue working you can. I know someone who was forced by his employers to go as soon as he was retiring age. He loved his work and did his job well but was made to go and was replaced by a younger person less experienced most likely on a lower rate.
The retired gentleman well he can be seen getting the shopping for his wife who still works and pottering around. He couldn't find a job elsewhere. :(

| I think it it should go up to 75. People are healthier and living longer these days, and saves you being stuck at home with an old crone moaning at you for getting under her feet. | |

| My opinion is the same as WG. It depends on the job and whether or not the person really loves their job. If folks decide to retire, great! There are loads of retirees doing volunteer work over here. They love their "new" job and look forward to it. I reiterate, it depends on the job and the love for the job. Person's choice.
Hubby brings up a good point: Being eligible to retire shouldn't mean being forced to retire.

My own father only lived 18 months after he retired, he had worked all his life in a factory, never was off a day sick. |

| I don't think the age should go up. I think if people want to work past retirement age then they should be allowed to do so. But the opportunity should remain for the thousands of people who have had enough by the age of 60/65. At the end of the day there are an awful lot of people out there who are not fit to work past that age so that should not be taken away from them. After all they have made their contribution to the country by that time and are entitled to sit back. | |

| I don't think the retirement age should go up either but do think that people should be given the choice of whether they would like to retire or not. | |

| i dont think it should go up either, for the simple reason that there are so many young bright people leaving school an going straight onto the scrapheap and not getting a chance cos old fogies who have worked all their lives wont leave n give the youngsters a break. and dont say they have no experience, as no one had at that their age, not even those working past their sell by date the reason the government need the retiring age to go up is simple , they cant afford the pensions. its cheaper to pay dole money to youngsters than to pay pensions to oldsters. | |

| I think it should stay as it is. You have also got to consider if they changed it then there would be no vancies for the young. I hope not to offend anybody with that, just an observation. | |
