| I'm not sure about some of the others that've stopped working and decided to retire for what ever reason, but I've found that since I stopped working, I'm at least as busy as when I was working.. maybe it's because I now have time for all the things I didn't have time for while working.. I also worked between 14 and 16 hours a day every day too, so I didn't have time to do too much when I got home as I had to get sleep ready for the next days work.. I really only got a day or two off every couple of weeks or so, the joys of being the boss I guess..
I wonder how many others find they're busy or busier than when they worked after retiring?.. I wonder if it's normal to be so busy when retired?.. so far, the only good thing I've noticed is that I can now have a bit more of a relaxed start to the day.. once the day is started, it's usually pretty busy one way or another...

| I think most of us feel the same way sandy. The thing I like about it is, it doesn't matter how busy you are during the day, you don't have to watch the clock. Same in the mornings...........you can take as long as you like to get started. I tend to relax a bit more now but my other 'arf still has quite a full day most of the time. | |

| But you don't have to clock in and out and that's what makes the difference.................well, except maybe if the missus is in a bit of a hurry to get a job done. | |

| I love retirment mainly because of the 'no clock watching' and I can do whatever I please. I am never busy nor do I want to be rushing about all over the place, I've had too many years of that... What do you all find to keep you so busy? I do what I have to do in the house...may venture into the garden then off out with my sister till teatime when I do actually make the evening meal because my husband still works.. can't have him coming home to cook his own tea once he retires though he can | |

| I'm not retired yet but I only work 2 days a week now. The rest always seem to be just as busy as if I was working :) | |

| It seems we get all those things we either couldn't do, or didn't have time to do while working.. I know I was always saying "One day" when I was working.. I quite enjoy doing things for friends too, so that seems to help keep me occupied these days.. I've never been one to be idle, so I'm glad to have things to do... | |

| You may be lucky on the more hubby bit momma, if he's anything like a lot of us, he may find himself just as busy as he is now.. it seems retirement only means retiring from working, not from doing those things we didn't have time to do while working.. I know I have to organise my days fairly well now, the only difference is no more getting up at 4.30 - 5 a.m in the morning to get off to work, and no more rushing to start the day.. if I want to take a couple of hours to get up, have those coffee's, breakfast and a shower, I can do it, and no getting up at 5 in the morning to do it... | |

| I'll answer more to this post in 25 years . But yeah i suppose you would be alot more busier, i work to much and only get a couple of days of as well. so i am guessing by the time i retire there will be 60 odd years of stuff to catch up on . | |

| I have been retired 15 years now and agree with Sandy there just isn't enough hours in the day plus everything I do I am the boss.
Hubby and I travel a lot. go to exercise classes walking and I think we have a great life. I definitely recommend Retirement.

| That old saying, "Use it or lose it" comes to mind, I think being as busy as we seem to be in retirement, we don't have too many worries about the brain or the body completely stopping on us for some time to come.. it seems we may be enjoying a slightly slower start to the day, but we have enough to keep the mind and body working... | |

| I think that's a plus of being retired, pick up a book and get it read.. I've always enjoyed reading, but while I was working it wasn't uncommon to take a year to read an average sized book.. I'd do something like hop into bed and start reading and fall asleep after a page or two I was so tired, I was always waking up to find the book on the floor .. these days, I get to read those books and get them finished in far less time.. I had to stop getting books from the local library because I'd end up renewing them 10 or more times, I think the library got a bit annoyed too as they give the books for a month, normally plenty of time to read the average story... | |
