TV stroke diagnosis begins in Lancashire and CumbriaA new service for stroke patients which will link them with consultants via television technology is starting across Lancashire.
Patients reaching hospital outside normal hours can now be diagnosed by a consultant at home, via a mobile screen with a camera, called a telecart.
Telestroke is being spearheaded by Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The service will cover eight hospital sites in Lancashire and Cumbria.
The Cardiac & Stroke Networks Lancashire and Cumbria say that vital drugs can then be administered faster, saving lives and an estimated £8m a year for the hospitals concerned
