Human tissue samples kept by Avon and Somerset Police

More than 100 human tissue samples were kept by Avon and Somerset Police over the past 25 years without the knowledge of families.

It said of 1,079 unexplained deaths it had kept tissue from 10% of victims.

The announcement follows a nationwide audit ordered by the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo).

Marie Edwards, whose daughter was buried without an organ in the Bristol heart scandal, said families should be told if tissue is taken from victims.

should relatives be told???

IMO they should be ASKED not just told.

i agree but if they said no..i think certain tissue samples should be taken for dna purposes
and as they are victims i imagine theyd want the killer to be caught,and no one knows what new technology is round the corner

I think every baby born should have it's dna taken straight after birth.

100% igot arresteda while ago for having a fight a kid hit me with a bottle so i battered him i got let off in the morning but they took my dna,and gave it me back with my property,i told them to keep it

im not an offender and if im ever killed even by accident at least my remains could be identified
i think everyone at there choice should be allowed to give it somwhere for future reference,,i know alot would say thats big brother attitude but i dont care

It would help to solve murders easier,and if you aren't going to comit a violent crime why would you not want your DNA on record.

its the anti establishment crew i think.and some people think,and they do i suppose have the right to their own lives and privacy


does anyone think it should be volountery or compulsive?
