A RETIRED miner died after a junior doctor looking at an X-ray back-to-front tried to drain fluid from the wrong lung during a botched operation.

Eric Oliver - a dad of 11 with 104 grandchildren and great-grandchildren - died only hours after joking in a "jovial mood" with nurses that he had "repopulated half of Rotherham".
