Has school choice become a lottery?

Schools have opened their doors for this year's intake of pupils, with many parents having faced a long battle to get their child into the school of their choice. Are school admissions fair?

I think in Scotland you can near enough get into any school you want as long as you justify why..we have a primary and secondary school here and everyone here gets into them but also there's been pupils from outside the villages that get into them..I've also known kids that have gone to the secondary schools in Dumfries and surrounding villages..all miles away but they accept them
