grand national

a few of you no already every year we have a bbq and get a big tv outside and some beers etc anybody else make a day of it
and has anyone got any good tips

yes..my tip...only bookies get rich ..trust me..my dad was a bookie..on a serious note ..my hubby has a couple of horse scribbled onto a piece of paper and they'll be rank outsiders and he'll stick an each way on them

we only have a couple of horses each £1 ew and tthats it its just a bit of family fun etc beers bbq and a laugh for less than a fiver a piece beats us all goin to the pub on a saterday i think

I wont be watching it let alone making a day of it . My husbands working a double shift that day anyway, just for a change

To get back to the National, Joe and i usually pick a couple of horses each, just for fun, no money involved, just to see if any of us are good at picking winners, never are, so thank God no money goes to the bookie. :twisted:

We usually pick a couple of horses each just for fun. I normally back mine to win........all or nothing kinda thing. Lol I haven't looked at the runners yet, probably will tomorrow morning. I normally try to pick a couple that are about 8 or 9-1, not exactly favourite but might stand a chance, oh yes and I try to stick to those that have done the course and distance to as I think that helps...ish.
I didn't get last years winner but did the two previous years, so if last year is anything to go by its probably all down hill from now on. Lol

i dont look at the odds i go for the name if it tickles me or i can relate to the name i go for it
diane studies all the form etc but the lads are like me
there should be quite a few here tomorrow plus the ones that just turn up because they no we do it every year

Sounds like a fun day!! and sometimes it is the names that attract me first too.

With us we usually put some money on a horse or 2 and then sit and watch it, can't say we have ever really made a day of it but it does sound like fun :) we usually make a day of it on the World Cup when England are playing :)

we dont gamble at all just on that race weird in it

we're the same..it's the only time my hubby will put money on anything..he's such a scrooge

think im going to back character building its the only grey and theyve brought a woman jockey to rid it
and like diane says she will try hader to win her being a woman

We picked 3 each as well wiseguy, joe is having Black Apalachi, Ellerslie George and Comply or Die. I'm taking Dream Alliance, Piraya and Snowy Morning. Hey, if we'd thought about this sooner we should have run a sweep on the race with !st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placings, with the prizes of 10, 7, 5 and 2 points added to posts. Need to remember this next year eh.

One thing with the Grand National, anything can happen. Think it was 100-1 winner last year?
Well I have done £1 win on two horses, yep one of them Black Apalachi like several others I see Lol and the other...Tricky Trickster, so all I have to do now is sit back and wait for one of them to romp home.......with my luck, probably about half an hour after the rest of the field

now now Candy, you have to think positive, as you said any horse could win the national, so eh.

Lol killie, I dont mind really, its just a bit of fun, but if neither of my horses win.................I'll be down that betting shop later asking for my money back!!!!

Well that's it for another year then, Joe has just handed me my purse. Wiseguy, where's that spade.?

hubby had 3rd and carrie had second..and they had each way..so they get money..I get nowt

I didn't get anything either because I had mine to win and it came second. My daughter got the first though.
