There is a 30 mile wide strip of Scotland which envelops the places where Robert Burns was born, where he lived, died and burried. If pubs, hotels, museums, country estates, craft centres, etc had worked together inside this corridor then perhaps there would have been some real regeneration within it before and during the Year of the Homecoming.
If Burns Corridor had an established network a decade ago and earned some clout, would firms who controlled businesses within it have been able to eradicate Scottish legends such as Johnnie Walkers and HMS Gannet so easily? Would they even have considered changing the name of Ayrshire's airport to Glasgow Prestwick?
Do you have any idea of the number of iconic figures have come from Burns Corridor?
Just asking.
It's not to late to create Burns Corridor Network but the opportunity to create sustainable businesses is still being ignored.
