I voted no.

The council has a shortage of properties, and increasing numbers of people applying for a council house, due to the recession a lot of people got behind their mortgage repayments thus lost their homes. Saddled with the younger generations moving out of their parents house and wanting to live independantly, and the increase influx of immigrants, they need properties available for those people.

That is a short term solution not a long term so a waste of time and money in my opinion.

i think its not a bad deal was talking to a old woman the other day (wg has no morals yorkshire council 44866)
and she said if they gave her enough money to decorate and recarpet a smaller place she would jump at it she lives in a 3 bes house on her own
where some young familys are struggling with one and 2 bedroom flats

Not all elderly people get relocated in their own area, many want to remain in the same street or neighbourhood. A neighbour of my mothers lived in a 3 bedroom house and had waited for 10 years before a one bedroom bungelow became available just across the street. She felt she was too old to move into a new area, to start making friend, after all all the neighbours in her area knew each other very well and would respond the minute they thought "something's wrong" be it from a change of routine or milk bottles left on door step etc.
