Drive anyway, you're guaranteed to pass a retail park every 3 miles or so, I don't know what the reasons are for a retail park is but it's there. Not only that but supermarkets like Tesco and Asda who undercharge for every single thing until a competitor goes out of business then they charge through the roof.
We used to have plenty of garages that sold petrol/diesel around our old house, once they built Tesco, people flocked there for their petrol as it was way cheaper than the local firms. Pretty soon the local firms went out of business and then Tesco turned around and charged hell of a lot more than the garage used to charge. We complained and they said if there was a cheaper petrol within the 3 mile radius, they would drop their fuel price, of course with no competitor, there was nothing within the 3 mile radius. They are doing the same with food stuff.
Once all competition is eliminated, god help the people that chose to shop there because it was cheaper, as they will be paying through their noses for basic stuff.
