West Yorkshire teenager 'died without receiving medicine'

A teenager who died after being admitted to hospital did not receive the medicine prescribed to her by a doctor, an inquest has heard.

Laura Garner, 18, died after being admitted to Bradford Royal Infirmary with abdominal pains on 22 September, 2009.

The duty surgeon prescribed antibiotics which were not administered, Bradford Coroners' Court heard.

Ms Garner died 24 hours later, after being transferred to a recovery ward.

The trainee hairdresser from Baildon, West Yorkshire, was told by the on-duty specialist surgeon, Abid Hassan Mohammed Salih, she may have been suffering from appendicitis or a urinary tract infection.
