| Britain’s fattest teenager would order up to eight kebabs at a time from a nearby takeaway where she would run up a bill of £5,000 each year. Georgia Davis, 19, used to buy up to 20 kebabs a week - each one containing 2,000 calories - from the fast food restaurant near her home in Aberdare, Wales. The teenager would also order two large 1.5 litre bottles of Coke to wash down her food feasts, a delivery driver revealed.

| I'd say they probably did Fiona.. the problem is, eating disorders are similar in a lot of ways to drinking or smoking, a persons got to want to sop eh.. a good way to discourage it is tax the **** out of it like they have with smoking and drinking here.. tax has seen a big drop in the amount of smokers, they can't afford it now, tax is also still going up another 30% over the next 3 years on smokes.. IMO if the same was done with junk food, it'd cut down on the amounts eaten and how often it was eaten... | |

Brilliant idea, seems these kind of places don't care who buys and in what quantity as long as they get cash which is a shame. We have 3 different kebab and pizza places down one small stretch where I live which I think is ridiculous. Imagine what better use these places could have been other than a take away. There was talk of putting tax on pastries which I think didn't happen in the end but I could be wrong, maybe they should scrap that if it hasn't been and change it for this because it would seriously help with the obesity they keep complaining about. I really do hope this girl gets sorted soon.

| Taxing alcohol and cigarettes has cut down on the amount of smokers and drinkers here.... at last check in excess of 60% of the cost of a pack of smokes goes to the government and about 40% on alcohol.. I feel if they did the same with junk food it'd cut down on the amounts eaten..
The down side is that it would put a lot of small businesses out of business because of a big drop in sales, but if the junk food tax was high enough, I doubt any government would lose much on the tax take, even with an increase in unemployment..
Years ago, around 2/3 to 3/4 of people here smoked, now with the tax on smokes being at least 60% and rising, there's around 28% of the population smoking, so IMO the tax has an effect..
I looked at the little shopping area less than a mile away from me, there's two bakers, 2 fish & chip shops, 3 different asian food shops and dominoes all within 100 yards of each other.. 30 plus years ago there was only 1 baker and 1 fish & chip shop there and the same amount of shops.. it's easier to get junk food than it is to get to a supermarket and buy the food to make a healthy meal...
