Bristol father jailed for killing toddler with methadone

A Bristol father has been jailed for killing his toddler son by giving him the heroin substitute methadone.

Jamie Green, 33, was found guilty of manslaughter and cruelty following a trial at Bristol Crown Court and sentenced to nine years.

His partner Sonia Britton, 35, was cleared of manslaughter but convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a person under 16.

Jayden Lee Green, aged 23 months, was found dead at home in St George.

Green and Britton, who had been together for 11 or 12 years, were taking crack cocaine and heroin throughout 2011 despite having been prescribed methadone, the court heard.

Scientific tests showed that the fatal dose administered to Jayden Lee last August was not the first time he had been given methadone.

Britton was jailed for four years.

I agree they should have got life and the mother if not give life should be made to have a hysterectomy so she never has more children

why were they allowed to keep kids being known users ffs,why have they got methadone in the house?
me and crusher know a few users,but they have to drink it in the chemist

some dont a old mate of mine used to get it to take home

i thought they changed it all 4yrs ago
