Escaped bull shot dead outside Sheffield primary school

Police shot a bull dead after it escaped from a slaughterhouse and found its way on to primary school playing fields in Sheffield.

A member of the public called police after seeing the animal on Main Street, Grenoside, at about 11:50 BST.

The bull was later found on the playing fields of Fox Hill Primary School.

South Yorkshire Police said the bull was shot dead by armed officers "in the interests of public safety and to minimise the risk to the community".

No-one was injured during the incident.

gets me wondering why it was not sedated
says it was in a field so not obviously doing harm
will have to keep my ears open

Must have been frightening for anyone near by who saw it however I do agree with you on that wiseguy, if it wasn't doing any harm and was pretty much away from the public sedation would have probably been better, shooting it dead seems cruel if it wasn't doing any harm.

More than likely, the way things have are in this country at the moment they will do anything that costs less which is a shame.
