| Got it here, all the smokes and tobacco in cupboards and closed, it's a pain too, not only for shoppers but the checkout staff.. I can't see if my usual are around any more, so that means holding up the cue while the person on the checkout looks, I used to be able to make my choice before I was served.. I wonder if the same will happen with the booze?... | |

| frankly I know I am a pain with this but I am not sorry to have them hidden from view. Any thing to try and make them less accessible to our kids, there are enough influences on their health as it is. In my ideal village the ciggies and strong booze would be behind bars and the addicts would be free and not the other way around

| IMO the same should be done with booze, that causes more damage than smoking and costs countries health systems far more than smoking per anum, but it's only the smokes getting hidden away, it seems really ludicrous to me... | |

| What's education got to do with smoking?.. I don't see a connection between the two.. if people want to smoke or drink, I see it as a choice though.. some of us choose to kill our lungs with smoking while others choose to kill brain cells and other people by drinking, both are personal choices.. we all decide if we want to smoke or drink... | |

| I agree its a personal choice but I think this plan is a waste of bliddy money. They seem to be under the impression that if the fags are hidden, then the young folks won't start...............what a lot of bollox............its a well known fact that a lot of young folks will try smoking, but not all of them will continue. Its more about peer pressure than anything else. If all their mates are smoking, they'll probably smoke, if they start work and all their workmates are smoking, they'll start. Its always been the case. I don't believe for one minute that hiding cigs away behind a sliding door is going to make the slightest bit of difference to whether folks smoke or not. I stopped 14 years again but nobody forced me to stop, nobody badgered me into stopping............I stopped because I wanted to stop and at that time my head was right for doing it........................so I don't think anyone has the right to tell anybody else to stop smoking. As you so rightly said its a personal choice to start, and by the same token, its a personal choice to stop.
No amount of dumb gimmicks in shops is going to change anything. All that's going to do is cause a huge amount of expense for the shops. | |

| My sister is a smoker and whatever happens she will never stop, she has no inclination to...she had an enlarged heart and heart failure (due to a virus attacking her heart) It's all ok now and back to normal but she only stopped for about 2 weeks throughout it all. Her lungs by the way were sound when checked! Personally I think she's an idiot but who am I to talk I smoked for a lot of years before stopping myself, when I finally got my head round it and found it very easy..hopefully I will never smoke again, I don't want to. If people want to smoke nothing and no one will stop them. What does annoy me are the non smokers who drive even the shortest distance in their cars emitting their own fumes but still um and arr and puff and blow flapping their hands in front of their faces whenever a smoker dares to venture within 6 feet of them... | |
