SCOTLAND’S first formal canoe trail is being launched tomorrow (Friday).
The 60-mile Great Glen Canoe Trail is expected to attract thousands of new visitors to the Highlands.
Running from Corpach, near Fort William and Inverness, the picturesque route follows the 200-year-old Caledonian Canal.
It takes in Telford’s man-made canal as well as four lochs and also offers alternative whitewater river sections along the route.
Behind the £331,000 project is a partnership comprising British Waterways Scotland, Highland Council, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), and Forestry Commission Scotland along with the Scottish Canoe Association and the Highland Partnership Programme.
