A 35-year-old man has been arrested after a female torso, feared to be that of a missing former Eastenders actress, was found in a canal in London.

The body is feared to be that of Gemma McCluskie, 29.

Police were alerted after a passer by noticed something suspicious in the Broadway Market stretch of Regent's Canal in Hackney on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms McCluskie, who starred as Kerry Skinner in 2001, disappeared from Bethnal Green, east London, last week.

Canal body is former soap actress

A female torso found in a canal in London is that of a missing former EastEnders actress, police have confirmed.

Gemma McCluskie, 29, was found in Regent's Canal in Hackney, east London, on Tuesday.

A 35-year-old man, believed to be her brother Tony McCluskie, has been arrested and remains in police custody.

So sad to hear this :( don't remember her myself in Eastenders as I think it was around the time I didn't watch the soaps much she was in it but such a young age and to go in such an awful way :(
