FOUR motorists were involved in accidents in Caithness this morning due to black ice as police warn drivers to be aware of frosty conditions.
Northern Constabulary said these are the first accidents caused by ice on roads locally this winter.
All the incidents took place in the space of 42 minutes between Thurso and Wick on the A882 in the Oldhall area.
The first occurred at 7.10am when a 4 x 4 vehicle left the road – no-one was harmed, then at 7.50am a car left the road – the driver was also unharmed.
At 7.52am, two vehicles were involved in a collision which briefly closed the road. Ambulance staff were called to the scene, but reported that no-one was seriously injured.
Area Chief Inspector Matthew Reiss said that motorists should take extra care during the winter.
